Mots clés chemo-enzymatic catalysis, photocatalysis, multi-copper oxidase, heterogeneous catalysis, oxy-functionalization, degradation of pollutants Description du sujet The development of sustainable chemical processes is a key challenge for the future. In this context, the co-immobilization of a synthetic photocatalyst and a robust multi-copper oxidase offers a promising strategy to couple the oxidation of organic compounds with the safe four-electron/four-proton reduction of dioxygen to water under continuous light exposure. This innovative approach enables diverse applications, ranging from selective synthetic oxy-functionalization (e.g., epoxidation) to the efficient degradation of environmental pollutants. Description of the work: This project aims to develop and investigate a new generation of supported chemo-enzymatic catalysts designed for the sustainable photooxidation of organic compounds under continuous visible light irradiation. These hybrid catalytic systems will be immobilized onto various type of materials- porous or not- and their performance will be evaluated under diverse experimental conditions. A key aspect of this study is the control of the spatial arrangement of the catalytic components—the photocatalyst and the enzyme—both relative to each other 1 and to the material surface. This structural optimization is expected to define unique catalytic interfaces, enhancing both activity and selectivity. Preliminary findings indicate that the combination of a multi-copper oxidase with various photocatalysts enables the oxy-functionalization of hydrocarbons with high photoconversion yields.2 Furthermore, beyond providing stability and reusability, the support material itself plays an active role in modulating the catalytic process.3 By systematically engineering these catalytic architectures, this project seeks to fine-tune reactivity and optimize performance. A multidisciplinary approach will be employed, integrating hybrid material functionalization and characterization, the production and purification of tailored chemo-biocatalysts, and their oriented immobilization. To achieve this, a multidisciplinary approach will be employed, integrating hybrid material functionalization and characterization, the production and purification of tailored chemo-biocatalysts, and the oriented immobilization of catalysts. Catalytic efficiency will be evaluated under various conditions, including deep eutectic solvents and continuous flow catalysis, to enhance process sustainability and scalability.
