By making this information available, the Observatory aims at promoting greater transparency and a clearer understanding of the ways in which the audiovisual industries in Europe function, both from an economic and legal point of view.
The team you will be working in, the Department for Market Information, monitors the film, television and on-demand markets in all the member States of the Council of Europe. It collects, analyses and publishes data in the form of reports and databases, maintains several networks of data providers and organises closed and open events. The Department consists of nine people from different nationalities.
Your RoleAs a Market Analyst, you will be responsible for managing one of the lines of activities of the Department (film industry, audiovisual services and players, on-demand markets, TV fiction production and gender), including:
- developing medium-term perspectives and project concepts for the development of the line of activity you will be in charge of;
- proposing annual work programmes;
- personally taking charge of several projects within the activity line, encompassing drafting reports and updating databases;
- ensuring the quality of the related reports and databases;
- coordinating and supervising junior analysts, either attached to the line of activity or on a project-by-project basis;
- maintaining and developing personal networks of industry contacts;
- representing the Observatory and promoting its work as an expert in your line of activity, both internally as well as to Observatory stakeholders, in particular by speaking at Observatory and third party events;
- managing the relationships with the data providers relevant to your line of activity;
- developing the editorial concept and content of Observatory events.
You must:
- hold a higher education degree or qualification equivalent to a bachelors degree (1st cycle of the Bologna process framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education Area) in economics, management, statistics or in a relevant subject in the audiovisual field;
- have at least 4 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: film / audiovisual / video games, in a role mainly dedicated to data driven analysis of market structures and developments ;
- have a very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Council of Europe (English);
- have a good knowledge of the other (French).
You must also:
- be a citizen of one of the member States of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
- have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
- not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
- be under the age of 65 years.
