EIB Trainee

The EIB, the European Unions bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) - Central and South Eastern Europe Department (CSEE) - Bond Financing Desk Unit (BFD), in the EIB office in Paris, France: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 01st September/October 2024)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

The objective of the traineeship is to provide a solid, hands on learning experience of the trainee in a new team responsible to deliver bond financing to EIB eligible projects, in complement to EIBs bilateral lending. The bond financing desk is a small, highly technical team, looking for support with market intelligence gathering, deal appraisal, negotiation with clients and general support to the team. She/he will be supervised by a senior desk colleague, located in the Paris office.

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main tasks will be:

• Gather market data for pricing, issuance volumes, intermediary partners research data, etc., and
• provide a weekly update to the desk
• Financial analysis in support of due diligence process and negotiation of deals, as necessary
• Preparation of notes to the Management Committee / Services
• Maintain internal databases, e.g. transaction pipelines
• Accompany senior colleagues to internal meetings as well as to client meetings

• Final year of studies or university degree in Management, Finance, Banking or related subject (Economics, Business Administration)
• A first experience in Debt Capital Markets will be considered as an advantage
• Experience working with Bloomberg will be an advantage
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word and Excel
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage
